ActivSorb adsorption carbon suit

Description

ActivSorb Non-Flammable Carbon Adsorption Suit is a garment designed to form a secondary protective layer on the wearer’s body. This is an adsorption undergarment made from activated carbon fiber fabric that provides protection against chemical vapors and gases. It consists of a carbon knit fabric adsorbent laminated on both sides with non-flammable fabric.

Applications: Firefighters, customs officers, police departments, military personnel, and emergency response services.

ActivSorb is a lightweight, vapor-permeable suit intended for repeated use and washing. A major advantage of the material is its non-flammability, which makes ActivSorb suitable for use underneath firefighting gear to enhance protection against carcinogens produced during combustion.

The effectiveness of ActivSorb has been independently tested by the Czech National Institute for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Protection and the RECETOX Center at Masaryk University. ActivSorb provides effective protection against nerve agents for at least one hour, even under saturated concentrations of dimethyl methylphosphonate, 1,2-dichlorohexane, and gaseous iodine (tested in extreme saturation levels).

RECETOX also tested the carbon adsorption material for long-term skin protection against polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (carcinogenic byproducts of combustion). No penetration of these substances was detected even after two months of exposure.

In the latest tests conducted in the SOJCHBO toxic chamber, the full suit was exposed to an atmosphere with chlorine gas (8 ppm). After 30 minutes of simulated movement and exercises, no chlorine penetration through the ActivSorb undergarment was detected.
